The working principle of ultraviolet sterilization is to use bactericidal UVC ultraviolet rays (mainly 240 nanometers ~ 280 nanometers) to destroy the molecular structure of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) and RNA (ribonucleic acid) of microbial cells, causing growth cells and (or) Regenerative cell death achieves the effect of sterilization and disinfection. So how does the ultraviolet disinfection lamp emit UVC ultraviolet rays? At present, there are two main light sources of ultraviolet disinfection and germicidal lamps-gas discharge light sources and solid-state light sources. The gas discharge light source is mainly a low-pressure mercury lamp. The light-emitting principle is the same as the fluorescent lamp we used before. It excites the mercury atoms in the tube. The low-pressure mercury vapor mainly produces 254nm UVC ultraviolet rays (radiation efficiency 30%~60%) and 185nm UVD ultraviolet rays (radiation efficiency 5%~15%) ). The solid-state light source refers to the UV-LED light source. The radiation efficiency of UV-LED ultraviolet rays is several orders of magnitude lower than that of low-pressure mercury lamps, about 3% (here refers to imported chips, domestic chips are less than 2%). The current cost is also very high. To achieve the same unit radiation dose, its price is much more expensive than low-pressure mercury lamps. Some companies are already using UV-LED in water purifiers, air conditioners, and air purifiers. It is believed that with the decline in technology and cost in the future, they will be widely used in civilian fields. How to choose a UV lamp? At present, most of the ultraviolet disinfection lamps sold on the market still use the mature low-pressure mercury lamp light source. The low-pressure mercury lamp mainly has two glass materials-quartz glass and high boron glass. Just to say, the ultraviolet transmittance and radiation intensity of high boron glass are lower than those of quartz glass. You must choose quartz glass tubes to buy domestic brand ultraviolet germicidal lamps (tubes). UVC has a weak penetrating power and cannot penetrate ordinary glass. General consumers can’t distinguish the difference between quartz glass, high boron glass and ordinary glass, so when you buy ultraviolet disinfection lamps (tubes), don’t greedily choose miscellaneous goods. When you buy them back, they think they can light up. Sterilization may actually have no effect at all, and the silver was wasted.
